so Brett Favre's stayin retired.......

...if i'm correct..yesterday, the homie Brett told Minnesota that he wasn't gon come back. he said that it was basically due to the fact that he didn't feel confident enough in his health to give it another run. personally, although i'm not a packer fan, i respect Brett and all that he's done in his career. he's one of the fiercest competitors ever in the NFL at any position, without question. wit that said....am i glad he's staying retired? yes..

..a couple reasons for that: one, i think it's a hoe move for a cat that built his legend, cemented his legacy, and won a championship in Green Bay to go to one of their fiercest rivals...a divisional opponent at that. two, if i was Brett, ain't no way Green Bay woulda told me they'd give me $20 million to sit my ass down and just make a couple appearances now and again, and i decline that. i mean, monetarily..i'm sure you've already accumulated multi-millionaire status just from bein almost 2 decades deep in the league, spending most of that time as one of it's most popular players. add another $20 million windfall..and you don't have to do anything else, other than make sure you don't blow your dough like Stanley Burrell did. i think wit those implications, one could swallow all that 'competitive hunger', right? but i ain't never played in the NFL, so i can't really tell you

..my third reason for being happy he's out...is pretty much the same reason we're glad to see every great athlete retire once they are aging....everybody LOVED MJ when he was bustin Utah, Portland, Phoenix, and Seattle asses back in the 90s...but very few of us really wanted to see him, pushin 40..in a Wizards uniform at that...missin games, lookin like a far cry from the guy that had every kid born in the 80s stickin out they tongue on the basketball court. and what's crazy is, he wasn't a Mailman or a Glove..a guy a decade plus into his career without a ring...he won all 6 he played for. as salty and sad as many of us were to see him go...nobody coulda went out any smoother than Mike did. so him comin back..and just lookin old was tough to swallow. same applies w/ Brett....just the fact of him even goin to NY last year was just so crazy too imagine....it was like imagining Dan Marino...in a Bills jersey..or actually having to see Emmitt in an Arizona uniform..smh

...wit that said...he's still one of the 5 best quarterbacks i could say i saw in my lifetime. he's thrown the most TD (and INTs...but fuck it)...lead a buncha relative no-names on offense to a championship in '96-'97 and a very close runner-up finish the following year...and he's made some of the most impossible lookin throws appear almost effortless...the wreckless abandon he played with was what made him so graceful to watch...the heart he exhibited made him the guy you loved rooting for...and his leadership made him a guy that teammates could respect and believe in, regardless of the situation....so, congrats on finally retiring. kick your feet up Brett...fuck it, you deserve it.
